Rewarding medical mission to Uganda

I recently returned from a very rewarding medical mission to Uganda. I have had the great fortune to go on many of these missions. I am honored and privileged to be able to share my profession with so many. Volunteering my time to help those less fortunate gets in your blood. I have joked that it is like childbirth. You forget all the challenges of making a mission work. The lack of air conditioning or running water in your PACU and even the fact that you may not have access to oxygen! But the smiles on the faces of the patients and families is something that is always a part of you. And so you give up some of your hard earned vacation the next time your are asked to join!
